Ryan Edwards, 35 year old Teen Mom OG star, was arrested on February 10th, over harassment of his 26 year old wife Mackenzie. Together, they are parents of two children, four year old Jagger and two year old Stella. Edwards is also the father of 14 year old Bentley with 32 year old Maci Bookout.

Tennessee authorities revealed in the arrest that Mackenzie recorded a phone call with Edwards, that he “interpreted as a legitimate threat on her life.” During the call Mackenzie turned over to police that Ryan allegedly said to his wife “What’s about to happen to you is gonna be ugly.” Edwards was charged Friday with harassment, possession of paraphernalia, possession of controlled substances and an order of protection.

His arrest came after bashing Mackenzie in a deleted instagram post. Mackenzie went on Friday to report her husband for posting a revealing picture of her on his instagram. The officer noted “The photographs did not show nudity, but were revealing.”

Mackenzie also claimed that Ryan has tried to contact her father behind her back so he can go and pick up his possessions from their home. As a result, Makenzie issued a violation of protective order on Thursday, later in the arrest.

Edwards was taken into custody and held on to with a bond of $5,000 reported by the outlet. Mackenzie has reported multiple times of instances of domestic violence that Edwards has been involved in since their wedding in 2017 to police. Mackenzie told police Edwards “Punch holes into walls and doors” and also has held her by her side next to the wall just last month when they last got into a fight. Mackenzie told authorities that Edwards threw her down in the hallway and said “If I could not have her, no could.” That is when he opens his pocket knife and puts it to her back like he was going to kill her. All of this was played out in front of their children. “I tried to leave, he smashed my phone and took my car keys.” she says. She also added that a co-worker contacted the authorities in the wake of the incident.

Weeks later, Mackenzie tells police that he was being violent with her again. She says she was laying down in the bedroom when Edwards out of nowhere barges in acting like he was going to punch her, while yelling at her. She also says that after he broke the bed that she was lying on, she was trying to go and get their kids and leave, but he wouldn’t let her. She also says that he threw her down in the living room and threw menthol nicotine in her eyes.

His issues with drugs were eventually put on record on the network’s popular series Teen Mom. Edwards in March of 2018 was arrested in connection with a probation violation on a previous drugs conviction, after which Maci Bookout obtained a restraining order against him. He was arrested later in the year after he was charged with possession of drugs; eventually, he was serving three months in prison in connection with the incident.

Timeline of Ryan Edwards arrest charges

March 2017- Edwards was arrested for drug possession.

June 2017- Shocking footage released of Edwards falling asleep while driving on the season 6 finale of Teen Mom OG. Bookout addresses his struggles on camera during the episode. “He’s an addict,” she said. “He doesn’t care about anything.”  Edwards says in a statement about checking in to rehab after the episode was released. “A little over 30 days ago, I made the decision to check myself into a rehabilitation facility. I am back home now doing well, and life could not be better. Without the support of my wife and parents I would not have been able to do this. Thank you all for your well wishes.”

March 2018- A year later after his first arrest with drugs. He was arrested for violating his probation. Friends and family were concerned that his stint in rehab was not long enough to properly battle his addiction.

Bookout and Mckinley filed a protection order against him, claiming he threatened her.

“He called me on Tuesday March 20th, 2018 and threatened to show up to my house and put a bullet to my head.” McKinney says in the court document “He has a history of drug abuse. He also said that he would show up at our son’s baseball game and confront us (my wife and I)”.

Bookout and McKinney, along with their children were granted a two year restraining order against Edwards.

April 2018- At this time Standifer was pregnant and she said she was in “complete abject denial” about Edwards addiction. Mackenzie only wanted to focus on one thing and that was having this baby and she seems to be hoping that this will help him and inspire him to live a clean sober life. Ryan denies the seriousness of the drug addiction.

July 2018- Edwards was taken into police custody for the second time in 2018 in July for violating probation. A week later, he was released and a spokesperson from Hamilton county jail in Tennessee said that Edwards’ first charge possession of drugs “has been dismissed” and that he was given 11 months and 29 days suspended sentences” for the second count. Edwards was also given the order to complete six months of probation and 5 public work days by October 1, 2018 and he agreed that he would get a drug test.

Edwards says that the incident is a “misunderstanding” in August 2018. “I got a speeding ticket and while I was pulled over, it came up that I was in violation of my probation because the community service had not been completed,” he claimed. “I didn’t do all of it. I went to jail for not doing all of my community service. It’s not that I wasn’t taking the community service seriously, it’s just that we have so much going on, I didn’t realize the deadline had passed. It was just a misunderstanding. I thought I had more time.”

October 2018- Edwards checks into rehab for the second time a month earlier. He was able to Skype and see the birth of his son Jagger, and he completed his 90-days treatment and returned home.

January 2019- He was arrested for possession of drugs and theft. It was said that this time he was taken into custody for theft of services under $1,000. Edwards remained in county jail until April 15 after his arrest for heroin possession and theft, confirmed by Hamilton county sheriff, Matt Lea, to the US on January 29.

February 2023- Edwards was arrested for violating the protection order against his wife, Mackenzie, sought out after their social media drama. At the time, he was booked on several charges including harassment, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.

March 2023- Edwards was arrested on March 1 for stalking and violating an order of protection. He was ordered in February to have zero contact with his now estranged wife, however, he contacted her through text message nine days after being notified by the court. He sent another text to her on February 23.

We can assume from these charges that Edwards is never going to change and that he continues to have a pattern of bad behavior.  It could also be safe to assume that these charges are never going to be dropped due to violation of multiple orders.
