School shooting in Apalachee, Georgia leaves 2 teachers and 2 high school students dead. On September 4th around 10:20 the sheriff’s department received reports of shots fired at the school. After arriving the school’s resource officer confronted the school shooter who was later identified as 14-year-old Colt Gray. Apalachee schools had received a threat earlier that day saying that there was going to be a shooting at 5 schools and the first school was going to be Apalachee.
There are 4 victims. The first victim was a 14-year-old boy, Mason Schermerhorn. Mason was a happy young boy who loved everyone no matter what. Mason was always spreading kindness, he loved playing video games and learning how to play the trumpet. The second victim was 14-year-old Christian Angulo. Christian was remembered as a sweet and caring kid. Christian’s family is very heartbroken at the sudden loss. The third victim was 39-year-old Richard Aspinwall. Richard was a defensive coordinator for the Apalachee school football team. He was remembered as a great dad who loved his family, loved football, and was a hard worker. The last victim was 53-year-old Cristina Irimie. Christine was remembered as a woman with a big heart and a loving soul. She died trying to save a student, which proves how much she loved her students.
Nine people were injured and hospitalized from the shooting. Eight of the people injured were students and one was a teacher. Colt Gray was charged with murder and will be trialed as an adult. Colt was questioned by police last year because of many different anonymous threats to commit a school shooting at an unidentified time and unidentified school. The school will remain closed for the rest of the week so that students can recover from this really sad event that could have traumatized them
