Loretta Lynn was a country singer and songwriter. Her songs were inspired by billions of people and they were also inspired by her life story. She is one of the most beloved American musical performers of her generation. Her family stated that she passed in her sleep at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. She became a wife at 15, a mother at 16, and a grandmother in her early 30s. Lynn married a man who womanized and managed her stardom. Oliver Lynn was 21. John Carter Cash stated, “She’s louder than most, and she’s gonna sing higher than you think she will.” John Carter Cash is an American singer and songwriter who helped produce Lynn’s final recordings. Her songwriting made her an inspiration for generations of country songwriters. She got started in the music business when male artists dominated the country airwaves.

“Loretta always just said exactly what she was going through right then in her music, and that’s why it resonates with us,” said Miranda Lambert, a famous country singer.

Jack White, singer and guitarist of the White Stripes, said that her grammy winning album “Van Lear Rose” had a message: “This is how women live. This is what women are thinking. In the country realm, where a lot of women weren’t able to do what they wanted.” It is estimated that 90% of her songs are aimed at her husband, Oliver Lynn. Lynn told Nashville “We fought hard and we loved hard.” On some occasions, she was physically abused by him. Her song “Don’t Come Home A Drinkin (With Lovin On Your Mind)” was written about her sister, who was in a similar situation as Lynn was with her first husband. Lynn reflects about her relationship with her husband, which was strained from his alcohol abuse and neglect. Another classic song, 1966’s “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)” indicated or was written at the time she had a confrontation with one of her husband’s mistresses which also can be indicated that he cheated on her. Another one of her classic hits “Fist City” which was released in 1968 came down to a rumor that some women pursued her husband and this particular triggered Loretta and ended up making a song about it. “Fist City” shows what real women can do when it comes to love. Lynn shows what a really tough woman she is.

Loretta Lynn stayed with her husband (Oliver Lynn) until the day he died on August 22, 1996. Their relationship wasn’t all “happiness and sunshine.” Instead, their marriage involved chaos, infidelity, and abuse.Loretta Lynn will be remembered as a country music singer who helped make this country a better place where women are not afraid to speak their mind. She will always be remembered as someone who inspired so many people with her songs and her life story. Her powerful voice, playful lyrics and topical songs were a model for generations and will always be a model for generations for country singers and songwriters.
