On Jan 13. 2023 Nova the clouded leopard at the Dallas Zoo was reported missing from her enclosure and they began to search for her. Now her only weighing around 25 pounds they said she wasn’t to be feared or labeled harmful. After a long day of searching everywhere a very scared and confused Nova was found on zoo grounds not too far from her enclosure. It was a scare that someone had cut a hole in the enclosure and gotten away with it but everyone was just happy she was back. There were a couple articles joking around but overall, it seemed everyone wanted to just move on from the very stressful day. 

The next morning after Nova’s return there was an announcement made saying there had been another cut in an enclosure. Lucky none of the spectacled langur monkeys had gotten out as staff had patched the hole as soon as it was seen. This set people more on edge as this again seems to be a purposeful action that someone had gotten away with. There isn’t any real motive that is apart in this situation which is leaving everyone very confused and lost. About a week after these two incidents occurred the zoo’s staff had to mourn a very important member of the zoo. Pin the lappet-faced vulture was found dead in his enclosure at 35 years old. Pin played a very important role by siring 11 offspring that live all over the country now. He had helped bring some more life to this very endangered species. Although they have not announced the direct cause of death it looks to definitely be of human cause. There was a statement said by the CEO that they are beefing up security and doing everything they can to prevent any other harm coming to these animals.
