You’ve probably heard of Spectrum, AT&T, and maybe even Verizon. Yet, there is also one that has internet service distributed with low-orbiting satellites. This is called Starlink, which is a group of internet service satellites sent into space by Elon Musk’s space-bound company Called SpaceX. This is one of Elon Musk’s many companies which along with SpaceX include Tesla, Neuralink, Solar City, Twitter, Zip2, OpenAI, PayPal, DeepMind, Starlink, Apple, Stripe, Tesla Energy, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, The boring company, Musk Foundations, and NASDAQ: TSLA. Back to Starlink, which is a global internet provider that can give people anywhere on the planet internet access. This project started back in 2019 when SpaceX launched 60 Starlink v0.9 satellites stacked together and deployed on 24 May 2019. As of February of 2023, there have been a total of 3,580 Starlink satellites sent into low earth orbit by SpaceX. In February, instead of sending the first generation satellites SpaceX sent 21 of the 2nd generation Starlink satellites into earth’s orbit. Along with this, there will also be another group of satellites at the beginning of march. The overall goal of Starlink is to send a total of 12,000 Starlink satellites, with a possibility to have a later extension to 42,000.

This satellite internet service group is promising faster internet speeds and the ability for satellites to send and receive signals directly to someone’s phone. With a Starlink plan, you can receive higher internet speeds than other providers. For this internet service, there is a one-time equipment fee of $599-$2,500 depending on the plan. With a monthly fee of $110-$500 depending on the plan. Residential is the least expensive plan which is for homes or residential housing. The plan that is in between is the RV plan, which is for RVs or mobile living as stated in the name. The most expensive is the business satellite plan, which is for business purposes. This allows you to have either a mobile plan, a small plan, or a large-scale internet plan to suit your needs. Overall, Starlink is a great internet plan with faster internet speeds available using low earth orbit satellites.
