Kim Kardashian, her mother, and her sisters, Kourtney and Khole Kardashian are rumored to be banned from the 2023 Met Gala. They have allegedly been cut from the guest list of celebrities this year. It appears that the Kardashians, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Tina Fey, Lena Dunham, Demi Lovato, Jameela Jamil and Amy Schumer were also reportedly removed from the celebrity guest list. Page Six is citing sources that claim Anna Wintour is “cracking down on the guest list at the annual fashion fete—and no Kardashians will make the cut.” All of this to make the Met Gala more exclusive than it already appears to be to the world. Other sources have rumored that the Kardashian family was banned due to having a negative experience at the Met Gala in the past and being very public with their feelings about the event.

Kim attended the Met Gala for the first time in 2013 with then-husband Kanye West while she was pregnant with their first child. According to sources, Kim tweeted in 2019 recalling her first time at the event nearly a decade ago: “I didn’t know anyone [and] I’m sure no one wanted me there.” She added that after the event, “I went home [and] cried after of insecurity.” With these public feelings on the event, many rumor this was the reason she wasn’t invited to the event. On the other hand, sources close with the Kardashians argue this isn’t the case and they will make an appearance at the 2023 Met Gala, as per usual. Viewers will remain in anticipation until May 1, 2023 as guest lists for the Met Gala are usually kept quiet until the event occurs in real-time. It does beg the question: with the Met Gala being a fundraiser, will the event be tarnished if the Kardashians don’t appear or will the event becoming more exclusive only raise profits? This is a developing story.
