Toddler Found In The Mouth of an Alligator
April 20, 2023
On April 6, 2023, two-year-old Taylen Mosley went missing on the same day his mother, Pashun Jeffery (20 years old), was found stabbed to death in her apartment around 2:30 p.m. Taylen Mosley’s father, Thomas was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Local authorities had been searching ponds, lakes, and rivers for Taylens body. Officials found his body on Friday the 7th, after a local reported seeing something in an alligator’s mouth. Officials shot the animal and recovered Taylens body, Sixth Judicial Public Defender, Sara Mollo, stated that, “Mosley allegedly did throw or place his 2-year-old son, Taylen, into a lake, inflicting mortal wounds that caused the child’s death. Due to the extremely serious allegations surrounding these tragic losses, our investigation is currently focused on gathering information about the facts and circumstances of the case, as well as our clients mental state”. Local examiners still don’t know the real cause of death. The night before Thomas Mosley’s arrest, he visited his mother’s house with “severe lacerations to both of his hands and arms consistent with injuries caused by slippage during a knife attack”. Pashun’s family had come to check on her when they saw the blood on the sidewalk. They later found Pashun dead with over 100 stab wounds. After further investigation a bloody fingerprint was found on a cleaning bottle that had intentionally been placed under the bed, and a bloody shoe was also found in the bathroom when Pashun Jeffery had been murdered. Criminal defense attorney Bryant Camareno said, “For something like this that’s so gruesome, the impact those images and the autopsy report and photographs are going to have on that jury is going to be monumental.” Thomas Mosley was later booked in the Pinellas County Jail on Friday, April 7th. He is scheduled for a bond hearing on April 11. Jeffrey’s mother, Lakita Denson, and her great aunt Theo Brickhouse-Sails released a letter on Saturday thanking the community and law enforcement. “We especially send our gratitude to St.Petersburg police and all law enforcement working day and night in the search for Taylen and the concerned citizens who shared helpful information. We are heartbroken that we must begin putting them both to rest. Taylen was a sweet and happy toddler and loved his mom, to see them together and their love for each other was a blessing. We will remember their love and will keep them in our hearts.”
