“If you look into the face of evil, evil’s gonna look right back at you.”

On the morning of April 10, 2023, the AHSFX Instagram account announced a teaser involving the next installment in the American Horror Story anthology series. Many fans were waiting in anticipation for information about the twelfth season and what it would include. After much anticipation, the season would be titled, “Delicate.” The news website: Hollywood Reporter, released an article talking about the reason the Ryan Murphy production chose the name. It was explained that the season is based, at least, on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel titled Delicate Condition. In the article, it states “The novel is described as a gripping thriller about a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens.” The novel is in comparison to Rosemary’s Baby– Delicate Condition being a feminist update.

The bit of information everyone was most interested in was the announced cast. Although in past years Ryan Murphy announced the entire main cast, this year, only two people were shown in the teaser video. Reality star Kimberly Kardashian joins the upcoming season alongside returning star, Emma Roberts. Despite the names of the characters Kardashian and Roberts will play haven’t been revealed, it is assumed that they will both be portraying the leads. Immediately on social media, fans of the anthology series were apprehensive about Kardashian being cast. They claim she isn’t the best actress, she doesn’t have enough experience, and she doesn’t seem like she would do the horror genre justice. 

The production team explained that they were impressed with Kardashan’s acting abilities when she hosted SNL in 2021, and they reached out last summer regarding her interest in joining. They began crafting a unique role for her first scripted TV debut. When AHSFX announced the season, they stated it would be released over the summer. Emma Roberts reposted Murphy’s original post and the caption contained, “This summer… Kim and I are DELICATE.” 

Even though there was a negative reaction to this announcement, some fans are very intrigued by this choice and are looking forward to this summer to see how they’re going to play out this story and see Kim Kardashian officially make her acting debut.
