Moonbin was born on January 25, 1998, in Cheongju, Chungbuk Province. He attended and graduated from
Hanlim Multi Art School, with a focus on Practical Music. Moonbin was one of the 2 siblings in his family, the other being his younger sister, and is also an idol in a girl group BILLIE, Moon Sua, who’s now canceled and postponed her upcoming shows. The Gangnam police have not provided a cause of death pending an autopsy, but the South Korean news media believed it was suicide. This was very common in the Kpop Industry for idols to commit suicide because of their fame, bullying from their members, death threats comments, or getting harassed by the company, etc. Jonghyun from SHINee committed suicide in 2017, because of depression. Then there is Sulli a Korean Actress and soloist, who also committed suicide in 2019, because of depression and cyberbully. Also Lee Jihun a South Korean Actor, also died in the Itaewon tragedy. Other singers and actors are joining in the growing number of South Korean Stars who died young and South Korea has the highest suicide rate in the nation. Yet the companies don’t do anything to prevent this from happening for not looking after their idols.
For Moonbin’s funeral, his agency Fantiago said the funeral will be held as, “quietly as possible,” limiting mainly family and close friends, as per the wishes of his family. Many K-pop fans have laid flowers and placed notes at street memorials in South Korea and around the world. Even Moonbin’s Band Members have joined in writing notes. There were Purple and Silver balloons in the memorials, the two colors that were heavily featured at Moonbin’s last performance in Thailand.
