Recently, a new Harry Potter reboot has been suspected of being in production. The Harry Potter movie series was first introduced in 2001 with the blockbuster film, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone and finished in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Harry Potter has continued to be a fan favorite with a well-rounded cast including Alan Rickman (Severus Snape), Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger),  and many more iconic actors. Recently, HBO has been suspected of working on a tv reboot, but many fans are adamant it will fail as it might taint their beloved franchise. HBO max has recently confirmed this with the author of Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling as the executive producer, while this is underway fans of the series have argued many points against the possible reboot even being produced and released.

These reasons being, that it would be challenging to make a tv series as good as the films, or that in the past few years, J.K Rowling has “fallen from grace” with the LGBTQ+ community after a series of controversial tweets that have brought about an uproar among trans activists and Harry Potter fans. HBO has since continued to stand by Rowling as Casey Bloys, CEO of HBO, states, “J.K. is an executive producer, and her insights will be helpful”. However Harry Potter wouldn’t be the first TV reboot of an iconic franchise, Lord of the Rings for instance released The Rings of Power on Prime Video and the laest Netflix show, Wednesday has dealt with similar circumstances. Often these remakes aren’t successful or well liked but some, like Wednesday, become popular thru the use of social media. Even though some may view this as exciting, many believe this will be a lousy tv show disliked by viewers and critics.
