Coachella 2023 Recap

Coachella headliners include stars such as Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and Frank Ocean.

Coachella is an annual music festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. This year the festival was held over two weekends, April 14-16 and April 21-23. The headliners for this festival included Bad Bunny,Blackpink, Frank Ocean, and Blink-182. The lineup included over 150 artists performing across six stages. The music genres included R&B, Indie, Hip Hop, EDM, and Rock. Over 200,000 people were in attendance. 

During the first weekend, Frank Ocean injured his leg and it was announced that he would not be returning for the second weekend. He also made a tribute to his brother who passed away in 2020 due to a car crash. He stated “I want to talk about why I am here…my brother and I, we came to this festival a lot…and one of my fondest memories was watching Rae Sremmurd with my brother… I know he would have been so excited to be here with all of us. I want to say thank you for the support and the ears and the love over all this time.” Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny also became the first Spanish-speaking singer to headline this festival. His set included a live orchestra of trumpets, tubas, bongos, and drums. British singer and rapper Labrinth also performed at the festival and brought out Emmy award-winning actress and singer Zendaya. After not performing for seven years Zendaya and Labrinth sang the songs “I’m Tired” and “All for Us” from the HBO series, Euphoria. “I can’t thank you enough for the love I received tonight, made all my nerves melt away, I’m so grateful,” she told the crowd. Producer Metro Boomin’ was also joined by The Weeknd to perform “Heartless” and “Creepin”. Other performances by Metro Boomin included 21 Savage, Diddy, Future, Don Toliver, and John Legend. Latto also performed her hit song “Big Energy” and was joined onstage by Saweetie to perform her “BFDS Remix.” Siblings Willow and Jaden Smith also performed their duet “Summertime in Paris”. Trio Skrillex, Four Tet, and Fred were the closing act at Coachella.
