Sawyer Kehn, Staff Writer

On Thursday, April 13th the students at Cane Ridge Elementary School participated in the annual spring Family Night. The theme for the event this year was Disney Parks! Students received Mickey and Minnie ears to wear, along with an autograph book to get signatures from famous Disney characters including Spider Man, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, Wreck it Ralph, and more! For food, there was a choice of chicken salad or ham sandwiches. In the gym, there were many activities for the students to enjoy including a bounce house, a read along, as well as math and reading games! Outside the school, there was a petting zoo to enjoy. Cane Ridge would like to thank their Family Resource Center for sponsoring the spring Family Night.

On April 18th, North Middletown Elementary School held their literacy night! Newport Aquarium came and taught students some shark facts and the students were allowed to touch the sharks! Afterwards, the students had dinner and were able to participate in the Penguin Walk that was put together by the Bourbon County Extension Office.

The high school students participated in the Bake for Good project, where students either baked two loaves of bread or braids based on their choice. The groups were allowed to keep one loaf while the other was sent to the Lexington Rescue Mission. The Lexington Rescue Mission’s main goal is to help provide fresh meals, free clothes, and a safe place to stay for those in need. They offer classes to help teach skills to help find lasting employment, as well as helping local businesses find workers.
