Lil Wayne announced his stop at Rupp Arena in Lexington on Sunday, April 30. He took the stage at Rupp Arena late Sunday evening. The recording academy Black Music Collective pre-grammy event, where Lil Wayne will receive the Global impact award. Lil Wayne was born on September 27,1982, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Lil Wayne has been creating music since he was little in Hollygrove. Lil Wayne started rapping at the age of eight. He later met brothers Bryan and Slim Williams, the founders of Cash Money Records, who were impressed enough with his skills to give him one of their business cards. Lil Wayne launched his solo career with Tha Block Is Hot (1999). The title track was a big hit, and the album reached the top of the hip-hop charts.  

The project netted the Grammy Award for the best rap album, and Lil Wayne picked up three more Grammys at the February 2009 awards ceremony, winning best rap song for “Lollipop,” best rap solo performance for “A Milli”

Later that year, Lil Wayne actually pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon; the charge stemmed from a 2007 incident in which a loaded gun was found on his tour bus. In February 2010, a month before being sentenced to prison, he released the rock-influenced album Rebirth, which was met with largely unfavorable reviews. He ultimately served eight months of a one-year sentence, was stylistically more consistent with his previous work, and was better received. In 2020, Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to illegally taking a handgun and ammunition on a private plane. He was supposed to get up to 10 years in prison but before he was sentenced in January 2021, he was pardoned by U.S president Donald trump. Now Lil Wayne is doing his tour and his next stop is the Masonic-San Francisco on May 12 at 8:00 pm.
