Week of May 8th, 2023 bourbon country is having their teacher appreciation week for the teachers at BCHS. The Bourbon County High School truly appreciates its teacher. This week Teachers have gotten something special each day. On Monday, the school-provided breakfast. Tuesday, they got little gift bags that had a cup and some teacher accessories. Along with cake on Wednesday, teachers got sub sandwiches for lunch on Thursday, they were given popcorn and pop with the lunch that was also provided by Subway. On Friday, delivering notes and cards, and dessert. “ We try to show the teachers all year how much we appreciate them but since it’s teacher operation week we really show them how important they are.” “We gave the 2 gifts of time this year where they leave 5th and 6th period and we keep the kiddos in the gym or cafeteria. Adkins bought the whole staff B-town drinks. Most of the things we do for teachers are like getting them snacks and desserts but we try to make sure teachers know how much we care.” Kirstin Nicoline expressed.

During this week 2 students will be sitting outside of the cafeteria with cards so students can write something special for our special teacher. These were delivered to our teacher Friday, May 12th. In an interview with Sarah Frazer, she was asked why she thinks it’s important to have teacher appreciation week. She answered “Teacher appreciation week is the least we could do for our teachers. They deserve so much more than what they get. I think it’s important that we make sure they know that they are important to us and we need them because they help us do so much better in life.” “ They are here to teach us life lessons that are valuable to us. I feel that teachers don’t really get thanked as much as they need. They sacrifice a lot of time and patience to deal with kids that aren’t theirs, that takes dedication.” she ended.

When asking Ms. Daniel about Teacher Appreciation Week, she stated, “I think it was nice what our administration did–they don’t have to do all that they have done this year.

Even with budget cuts, our administration is willing to pay out of pocket for us to have things for the week and throughout the year. It means a lot that they even tried because some places wouldn’t have.”

This week is all about our teacher and it shouldn’t be just this week we should say thanks and do things. We should appreciate all of our teachers every day of the week all year round. Thank you to all the special teachers for what they do every day!
