Although school started a little over three weeks ago, everyone is now in routine, starting tests and completing homework. Throughout these three weeks, it has given students and teachers an onlook for what is expected of the 2023-2024 school year. A teacher and two students were interviewed and asked what their expectations, feelings, and goals were for this year.
Ms. Daniel, who teaches English and Journalism was interviewed and was asked about her expectations for this year. She replied ”I hope to continue building the school culture. We came a really long way from the 2021-2022 school year to now, but I think there are still improvements to be made among student morale and how students view our school. Aside from that, my simple expectation is to have a great year with great students!”(Mrs. Daniel) The 2023-2024 school year is a new year which means new opportunities and new expectations to make. With this year we can build our school spirit, make improvements, and learn from our mistakes.
The next interviewee was Mary Baker, who is a freshman here at BCHS. We asked about what her feelings were about school so far and how she has adjusted to the new high school experiences. Mary replied “I feel this year has started off really good, All my teachers all seem nice and like they care about my grades. My peers have helped me a lot with school work and getting adjusted. I hope I make many new friends as the year goes on,”( Mary Baker). From Freshman year to senior year, everyone is getting adjusted and everyone has different feelings about school, however, hopefully, we keep the good vibes and good attitudes up for this year!
The last interviewee is Chaylarae Rose, she is a new senior who is from Arizona and moved to Kentucky this summer. She was asked about her goals for this school year and how she likes Kentucky and with those questions she answered “This is my first year in Kentucky and I’m excited to meet new people and have new experiences. My family owns a farm so I’m really excited to learn about the farm life and learn to eventually run my own farm. My biggest goal for this year is to graduate. After I graduate I will be going back to school in Winchester to become a Cosmetologist. One of my goals for this year would be to get a job specifically at Tractor Supply. Playing pickle ball as much as I can this school year is something I would like to accomplish. I’m planning on learning how to cook gluten-free. I am going to learn how to make homemade bread and cheese.”(Chaylarae Rose) This year will be a great year for everyone and school is full of new experiences, learning, and trying out new things. Hopefully, we can all work with each other to get through this school year and make it a fun one!
