The world of transportation is constantly changing, with no stop in sight. The world of transportation began with the wheel, used on rudimentary carts for transporting goods, later turning into wagons pulled by animals. Soon, people discovered a faster way of traveling from point A to B: Boats. From here, things began to change drastically from simple transportation to high-tech wonders. After humans had spread to most of the globe, they needed an even faster way to transport goods. With the industrial revolution came trains. Powered by coal and steam, these vessels speed across their tracks faster than ever imagined.
Roughly 82 years later, Carl Benz invented the very first car. This car was a three-wheeled automobile with a rear-mounted engine. Being constructed of steel tubing and wood paneling, he used steel spokes wheels and solid rubber tires. As the years progressed, cars became more complex, From simple motorized wagons to more complex and reliable vehicles. December 17, 1903: the Wright brothers conducted the first successful powered airplane flight, Leading to a new era of transportation. With the invention of airplanes came the ability to conquer the skies. The thought of controlling the ability to master the skies led thousands to seek ways to do so. Over the next few centuries, Airplanes went from simple powered planes to huge commercial airlines, along with thousands of jets, helicopters and other flying vessels. Shortly later, people wanted to combine cars and aviation, leading to the idea of the flying car.
Over the years, there were many attempts to create the flying car. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has nearly 80 patents on file for various kinds of flying cars, many of which failed to produce a successful flight. Despite all the failures, people continued attempts to fabricate a flying car. Roughly 120 years later, the dream of flying cars has finally come true. Over the past 10-15 years, multiple companies have been working on developing a flying car. All companies planning to release flying cars have already gained approval by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) for airworthiness. The airworthiness certification states that a vessel follows protocols for an aircraft and can successfully travel through the air.
Now, onto the important part of how these cars work and what you will need to acquire one. A majority of the flying cars are using multiple propellers to give them the forward motion to fly. The only restriction with the flying car is you need a Pilot’s license to fly this vehicle. If you don’t have a Pilot’s license, you can still drive on the ground without restrictions, but you won’t be able to fly without one. Along with that it cost anywhere from $300,000 to $800,000. While having a flying car would be better than a car in many cases, it might be better to stick with your car on the ground. This is Because while you might not have to follow roads, the air traffic would drastically increase while ground traffic would lower. So, if you only want to be able to travel with lower levels of traffic, it’s best to stick with the ground.
