The dedication and opening of The Secretariat Park in Paris, Kentucky will be on November 11, 2023. This park is dedicated to the legendary triple crown winner Big Red (Secretariat). Secretariat was a champion American Thoroughbred racehorse. Big Red (Secretariat) won ninth place in the American Triple Crown Race. He died at the age of 19 due to a hoof infection known as laminitis. Secretariat died way too young, the park is for people of the community to go and remember what he went through and to show respect to him. This park is dedicated as a remembrance of Big Red (Secretariat) and his arrival at Claiborne Farms for his breeding career. Claiborne Farms is hosting a three-day festival that will celebrate the grand opening of The Secretariat Park on November 10th-12th. There will be a plethora of activities for those who love horses. The opening will be free for the public and Claiborne Farms owners are accepting donations to help with the park. The park was funded with private donations in Paris Bourbon County. This park is going to be a big part of Paris-Bourbon County due to it being new and potentially being a historic park. You might be wondering if this is going to be a good addition to Bourbon County.
