On November 24, 2023, Enhypen made an appearance on Good Morning America to showcase their new song, “Sweet Venom”. Although the group’s performance impressed their fanbase, several instances during the show left fans questioning the host’s disrespectful comment. Reportedly, one of the GMA hosts, Juju Chang, mispronounced Enhypen’s name and called them “ipen” after introducing the group. Fans were shocked to see clips of the show online, which quickly went viral. During the interview, the group was asked about their US tour and their appearance in the film, “Baby Shark”. Two of the English-speaking members attempted to answer the questions, but it seemed like both of their microphones were cut off. At one point, Juju Chang, a Korean-American, remarked that their English is better than her Korean. Fans were quick to point out that one of the members was native to Australia and that the other was Korean but grew up most of his life in America. Moreover, Chang mispronounced the group’s name yet again while introducing their song, calling them “open” this time.
In addition to the poor camera work during their performance, the Good Morning America “X” account decided to tweet about the wonderful performance and how they expect them to perform more songs in their new album, “Orange Blood”. However, when they tweeted this, they mistakenly called it “Blood Orange.” After GMA tweeted this post, many fans criticized them for not even bothering to look up the album’s correct name. Hours later, GMA deleted the tweet after realizing their mistake. However, this didn’t stop fans commenting on GMA’s previous “X” posts. Many fans expressed their disappointment and demanded an apology from the GMA staff for their disrespectful behavior and microaggressions towards the group. Fans stressed that Enhypen is a legitimate artist that should be taken more seriously for their work and that it is crucial to show them some respect when they appear on any show. Currently, neither GMA nor Enhypen has commented on the situation but fans are waiting for GMA to own up to their actions and apologize to Enhypen.
