Sunday afternoon before 4:00 pm Walmart on Russell Cave Road and the New Circle was evacuated. They received a call saying that there was a bomb in the store and that it was about to go off. Everyone that was inside the store evacuated. Police arrived on the scene with K9 units. They searched the whole store but they didn’t find anything. About half an hour later around 5:20 pm, customers were allowed back into the store to shop.
It’s a common occurrence in the United States for there to be bomb threats targeted at different public areas such as schools or stores; there were around 1,670 bomb threats reported in general public areas as a whole, and over 1,000 bomb threats made that were targeted at schools specifically, but only 14 bomb incidents took place. Although these just might seem like a joke to some, there can be very serious consequences for making a threat towards a public place, and the police handle these situations very firmly. Threats as such can also cause a great amount of anxiety and stress for those in the community.
If you ever receive a bomb threat through a phone call a message or a note these are the steps you should take. First, take whoever called you seriously don’t think it’s a joke it might be but you still have to be safe. If you hear any noise in the background pay attention to it so later you can inform the police. If it’s a call, keep the caller on the phone as long as you can not hang up if you have to ask questions. Call the police as soon as you receive the threat and evacuate. answer all the questions of the police officer and cooperate. These are all the steps you need to take if you ever receive a bomb threat.
