New Year’s is a happy and important holiday but with all the fun comes chaos. New Year’s is a time when friends and family get together to celebrate the new year. So many people/ families go out to have a good time on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s. When families go out to celebrate they don’t expect something to go wrong because they think that everyone else in the world is doing the same as them or staying in. The amount of shootings that happened over the holiday would shock you. In the state of Kentucky and out of the state of Kentucky. Innocent people were shot and were either killed or injured.
When you think about New Year’s you should be thinking about a chance to start over and make this year better than the last, not one of your loved ones being in danger. On New Year’s Day around 2:00 AM on West Main ST. in Lexington Kentucky, the “police received a call about shots being fired in the area”. “A little bit later a victim of the shooting showed up at the hospital they were presumed to make it”. After the shooting, there was another one later that day on Linton Road around 3:40 AM when police got a call about gunshots being fired around the area. “The Police found a person suffering which they presumed to be a victim of the shooting. The person was also said to have made it” Lexington police said, yet the police are trying to get more information about it. There were so many others that happened on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s but not in Kentucky they were in Louisville, Tennessee, etc.
Along with all of the chaos, New Year’s celebrations cause many issues as well. Partying can be dangerous just as much as a shooting. This is due to the fact of being intoxicated you might not know what is happening around you which could be a dangerous situation. You can go out and have fun without alcohol, for example you could stay up and watch the ball drop. You could even go hang out with friends and family and have a good time. You are aware of where you’re at not only that but you also know that if you were wasted you had family and friends there who could get you home safely.
