In many coastal California communities, massive waves hit. The coast of California has been hit with massive waves whereas conditions of forced water have taken over the coast. The high water and tides have been ripping much of the West Coast, from the southern California coast to Oregon. Extreme conditions have forced water rescues, washed away cars, and injured a handful of enthralled outlooks. According to CNN, the unusually large massive wave is often towering 20 feet tall. This would be considered to be tsunami-like waves. This has caused closed beaches along the California coast and has also sent large amounts of damaging water into several beach sides, homes, and businesses.
It had been making its way through a series of powerful storms from the Pacific Ocean. The National Weather Service advised everyone to stay away from the affected areas, not to use the water, and to take note of the barricades in place. At least 2 people were swept away by a wave that slammed into a beach barrier. Places were becoming flooded quickly. The National Services say that the wave could reach up to 40 ft (12 meters) high in some places along the coast. Places like Capitola and Stinson Beach are also damaged and flooded due to the high waves. Even seaside restaurants were damaged. As evacuations were ordered lots of people flocked to the beaches to watch the massive waves hit the coast of California. Onlookers weren’t the only ones who were taking advantage of the waves, surfers were enjoying the advantage of riding the massive waves. Even the city of Ventura was hit by massive waves. At least 8 people were hospitalized due to the wave that hit. The entire west coast from Washington down to the US-Mexico border was also under high wave and flood warnings. After all, coastal cities are starting to adapt to changing conditions by building sea walls.
