Creed III actor Jonathan Majors faced assault and harassment charges causing Marvel to cut ties with the actor, who will face sentencing on February sixth. At 2:52 pm Monday, December 20 the six-person jury in Jonathan Majors’ assault and harassment trial filed into the Manhattan courtroom and pronounced the actor guilty. Soon after that, Disney had publicly distanced themselves from the former Marvel villain, saying Majors would not reprise his role as Kang the Conqueror and removed the actor from their Marvel Cinematic Universe. Majors’ charges were based on an alleged fight between him and his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in March of 2023. Majors was convicted of misdemeanor assault in the third degree, recklessly causing physical injury as well as harassment in the second degree, which is a violation. Majors is now facing charges of assault in the third degree with intent to cause physical injury, assault in the third degree recklessly causing physical injury, aggravated harassment in the second degree, and harassment in the second degree, in connection with an alleged fight between him and Jabbari that spilled onto the streets of Chinatown. The case took place in the New York City Criminal Court, with opening arguments delivered earlier in December. Majors’ girlfriend, actress Meagan Good, was by his side in the Manhattan courtroom but had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to a statement from the NYPD given to PEOPLE, “On Saturday, March 25, 2023, at approximately 1114 hours, police responded to a 911 call inside of an apartment located in the vicinity of West 22nd Street and 8th Avenue, within the confines of the 10 Precinct. A preliminary investigation determined that a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old female. The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.”
Major’s driver spoke to the jury through an Urdu interpreter during Major’s trial. He was the only witness beyond the former couple to witness the alleged incident, “He was not doing anything,” Sarwar said of the actor, referencing a set of interactions between the couple in the car that night. Then of Jabbari, he said: “She was doing everything.” Sarwar, speaking through his interpreter, said that at one point he had stopped the car, and Majors had gotten out: “He was trying to get rid of her,” Sarwar said. The driver added: “He was saying, ‘Leave me alone, I have to go.’ He was not doing anything.” Sarwar said shortly after, “She was doing everything.” Sarwar also noted that Majors was “trying to throw her in the car,” when Jabbari had attempted to follow him out of the vehicle: “He was trying to push her into the car,” and that the couple had eventually “both left” on foot. Majors’ is being sentenced on February 6, 2024, so we will see what’s left of his acting career after.
