The Bills game took a historic twist when freezing temperatures impacted the stadium tremendously with snow and ice. Highmark stadium had over 2 feet of snow from the midweek snowstorms. A call for shovelers for a second weekend in a row was called to help clean out the stadium for practices and the big game. Shovelers were paid $20 an hour with food and drinks provided along with warming areas for breaks. The Bill’s vice president Andy Major stated “It’s a team effort. It’s a community effort. We are so lucky and thankful for Bill’s mafia coming out and helping us with the snow shoveling.” Dangerous weather conditions hit across all of America, with freezing temperatures along with heavy rainfall. Parts of the country have been seeing below freezing temperatures for more than a week and will now finally see temperatures above 30 degrees. With temperatures rising and rain coming in, that means melting snow and loose, soggy soil. With those conditions flash floods are prone and more likely to happen. Some people are calling these conditions a “weather whiplash”.
Several cities have been evacuated due to flooding and the rapid rising rivers. The city of San Diego was evacuated, hundreds were rescued from homes, multiple homeless shelters have been moved elsewhere due to water. The entire western region was affected due to flash floods. More than 38 million people have been under a flash flood watch and another 2 millions were on a flood warning. Weather forecasters have seen double digit rainfall totals to be in the 10-12 inch range. Paris weather conditions have been in the 60’s and 70’s for a week. Due to weather conditions it should drop to low thirties and forties well along into February. Another round of rain is expected to happen Friday 26, rain through Friday will range from 1 to 5 inches.
