January 30th, 2024 marked the one hundredth day of the 2023-2024 school year, signaling a major milestone for both the administration and students of the Bourbon County School District. Students chose to celebrate in their own individual ways within classrooms for the most part, whilst the administrators of Bourbon Central, North Middletown, and Cane Ridge Elementary Schools partook in one hundredth day of school traditions.
The event, really only a symbolic one rather than one of any actual meaning, still brought much joy to the school district, as it represented a significant milestone in the school year. 100 days of school is quite the achievement, especially for the active staff and students within the school district. 100 days of hard work is certainly nothing to scoff at.
Within the elementary schools of the school district, the day was considered a profound and special day, suspending typical school work in favor of 100th day of school activities. Kindergarteners dressed as 100 year olds. Clad in “100” glasses and participating in “100th day of school celebratory actions,” the festive nature of the elementary schoolers certainly projects a level of joy welcome in these times.
Meanwhile, within the upper level schools, the atmosphere, whilst not as jubilant, was still somewhat positive. Students acted as normal, did normal activities, but it was rather certain that they were happy to have made it so far in the school year, at least comparatively anyways. The Bourbon County Middle School and High School both did not host any official celebrations, but some students celebrated in their own personal ways.
With 100 days of school having passed, it means that whilst the school year isn’t exactly over, it is rapidly approaching that point. One can only imagine the feelings of seniors as they prepare to leap forward from high school into a new life within college, or the feelings of underclassmen worrying about the transition to upper grades. Regardless of all of this, the symbolic nature of the 100th day of school cannot be understated.
