For the upcoming 2024-2025 year, Bourbon County High School is offering new courses for its students. Many of these new classes are in the English pathway, our new teaching pathway, as well as in nursing. However, the school is also providing an opportunity for students to be involved in a unique experience. One of the unique experiences being offered at Bourbon County High School is Lifetime Fitness with Ms. Sarah Garrison.
Lifetime Fitness has quickly gained attention over the past few years. The class partners with the YMCA to promote future YMCA memberships. Students are transported during the allotted class time so they have the ability to use the YMCA facility in Paris. During that time, students are taught how to use each machine and the various types of lifting styles that can be applied to their personal workout needs. One main aspect of the class is to ensure students learn proper form and techniques while lifting and performing exercises.
Being a part of this class during the school day allows students to implement the workouts they created. Otherwise, they would not have the ability to do so. They also get to experience participating in group cycling classes, group fitness, boxing, and use of the pool.
The main idea behind the creation of this class is to instill confidence in students. Each individual will be knowledgeable about fitness and encouraged to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle for them past graduation. This class also teaches them about healthy meal planning and how proper nutrition can affect an overall workout.
Bourbon County High School plans to continue this course for students. With this being said, the class size is limited to only 5-8 students at a time so each student can have an individualized experience and gather what they need for the future.
