The evolution of journalism in the past decade has changed significantly. This is because people rely heavily on social media to find information about things. Barely anyone reads the newspaper to find out information nowadays. A lot of journalists in the journalist community rely on the internet to make their stories instead of going out and chasing their information. Putting my own opinion aside, it hasn’t changed for the worse, it has changed for the better of society. Due to all of these new and young generations technology will allow society to become increasingly smarter. Many young kids can work technology better than the adults who have been around it longer. The internet has provided a variety of other platforms and sources for journalists, meaning that there are endless opportunities for information to be found. However, it would be beneficial for the journalist community to continue to also do some of their own research and not just use the internet for all of their stories in the making. First-hand resources are not only a tradition in journalism but it makes journalist’s writing better quality and more likely to be successful. Naturally, you might be wondering what makes journalism important in today’s society. Well, journalism is a big part of the world due to the majority of journalists posting online about things like news and events. Furthermore, journalism informs people of the up-to-date news happening all over the world. It is crucial for every day people to understand what is happening around them.
Another common question about journalism is if the journalism community has become smaller or larger. Well, the journalism community has gained members/writers over the past decade. This was due to the internet and electronics making it easier to communicate and find information and sources for the information. The internet that it takes to power these electronics is how the journalism community makes their stories. Through the past decade, journalists would not have been able to make stories without a high-speed internet to generate it all. Though there are positive and negative aspects of today’s journalism, it is evident that the community, sources, and expectations have changed immensely over the past decade.
