For a limited time, McDonald’s has flipped their M Making them Wcdonald’s. For those who don’t know, McDonald’s is no longer known as McDonald’s. Instead, they are now WcDonald’s. Why did they change their name? The reason behind the change dates way back to 1983, when an episode for Cat’s Eye (an anime) aired. In the episode, they show the famous food chain Mcdonald’s but with a slight change instead of using an M they decided to flip it and use a W which then became Wcdonald’s. Since then, McDonald’s has appeared in over 100 different anime films and shows. Starting February 26, the fast food chain launched a temporary rebrand taking inspiration from manga and anime, this includes embracing the upside-down golden arches featured in some of anime’s most iconic movies and shows, where it is widely known as McDonald’s. Along with the makeover McDonald’s has collaborated with some of the biggest names in anime to bring the recognizable and iconic manga version of the fast food chain from the screen onto real life. The fast food chain also rebranded their packaging, and cups and introduced a new Savory Chili WcDonald’s Sauce for a limited time. The sauce combines ginger, garlic, soy, and a little heat from chili flakes. The fast food chain has also teamed up with Acky Bright, a famous Japanese manga artist who has also worked with DC Comics, Warner Brothers, and more he is the one responsible for the illustrations on the new custom packaging taking inspiration from many of the anime displaying the famous upside-down golden arches. On these new packages, there is also a code that customers can scan to access weekly digital manga drops that star a full cast of WcDonald’s Customers and Crew, including Hashirune, a WcDonald’s regular, Mr. Bev, the Crew jokester, and many more.
