On March 8, 2024, Netflix created a new movie called “Damsel” starring Millie Bobby Brown as the main character, Elodie. In the movie, Millie Bobby Brown performed many dangerous stunts which she suggested she do herself, In a video on TikTok by Netflix. Millie says the hardest part was the climbing because she was on a wire while climbing up a crystal wall that was built for the set. Millie adds, “What can I say, I do all my own stunts.” The movie is about a young woman who agrees to marry a handsome prince in order to provide for her kingdom back home. Her father offers her up in exchange for money from the royal family. The young woman, Elodie, soon discovers it was all a trap as she is thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and is recruited as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Elodie attempts to find her way through the cave while escaping the wrath of the dragon. She stumbles across a tree of glowing bioluminescent snails that she uses to light her way through the darkness. Elodie soon finds a small pocket within the cave walls that is out of the reach of the dragon, but inside lies the answers to all of the secrets the royal family had kept for decades. Scratched and carved along the walls were the names of the former sacrificed princesses who tried to survive and escape, along with notes to warn others. There was also a map of the cave drawn out along the walls with pictures that represent each main section of the cave. Elodie soon falls asleep and wakes up to see that the snails that she had collected healed her cuts and burns. So, she continues through the cave and finds the “exit” that one of the princesses drew on the map. She climbs up a crystal wall in order to escape but is met face-to-face with a bitter wind and a very long drop. Elodie feels hopeless until she hears the calling of her father from below. Has he come to rescue her? Her father enters the cave and calls for Elodie, but she is smart and knows the dragon will only kill her if she goes to him. Once Elodie knew it was safe she came down and hid from the dragon, leading it away from the area she was in order to create a plan to kill the dragon since it wouldn’t listen to her. Elodie finds three dragon eggs with three dead baby dragons and the story pieces itself together. She tried to talk to the dragon again, but it wouldn’t listen so they fought and Elodie gave it one more chance. The dragon finally listened and allowed Elodie to heal its wounds, and then the two stormed the castle and burnt down the remaining royal blood. The two finally went off back to Elodies home to live peacefully.
