Charity, we always wanna help those in need, but a British man has taken a new level of running for charity to the extreme. Russ Cook recently completed a year-long quest through the dark continent. Cook completed the mammoth Challenge by running 9,9400 miles (16,000 kilometers) over 352 days across 16 countries. He started at Cape Agulhas in South Africa on April 22, 2023, and finished on April 7, 2024. Cook is known as the “Hardest Geezer.” It was certainly a challenge. Cook had to face sickness and being held at gunpoint and robbed during the run. Cook had stated that his Scariest moment was in the Congo, when “I was on the back of a motorbike, thinking I was about to die,” he said in a social media post after crossing the finish line. “Getting driven into the jungle, yeah — that was pretty nuts.” He had invited people across the world to join him on his journey by using social media. He documented his movements across the country for 352 days. Cook has run through cities, rainforests, villages, and the Sahara Desert. When he reached the Tunisian city of Ras Angela on April 7, 2024, he was met by several supporters and members of the press to celebrate the achievement. Cook and his crew celebrated the monumental achievement with a party at a hotel in the town of Bizerte. He has also raised $1 million for homeless and young people and clean water for Africa according to globalanews.com. Cook has also claimed to be the first person to run the entire length of the African continent. Cook and his followers are still raising money for the charities. They have raised more than 1.35 million dollars for charity. Cook will also be running the London Marathon with young people from the charity.
