After high school most people want to go to college so why is college not free? College being free would make it a lot easier for us who want to get an education to do so. There are a lot of people who want a good education but cannot afford it. Also, the cost of being in college and needing to pay for their food and sometimes books make a majority of people drop out. A lot of people are in debt because of the price of college and stay in debt for the majority of their lives.
But college being free would encourage a lot more people to attend college and the best part is they would leave debt-free and they could go ahead and start a job at higher paying jobs compared to people who don’t go to college. And the people who have specific jobs they want to do will most likely have a better chance of getting them. But in reality, college being free would encourage people to get an education and care about it and it would help it be more of a stress-free environment also helping people focus on their work and not on loans and financial aid. College being free would benefit everyone but mostly low-income families ,adults coming back to get an education, and lifelong learners. This would also mean having a healthy economy.
Some big cons of having free education are overcrowding and higher taxes. Nobody wants to be all crowded in a room with a lot of people and nobody wants to have higher taxes. Taxes would be higher because the educated people would make more money but what would happen to the people who still choose to not go to college even though it was free they wouldn’t be able to afford it. In conclusion, do you think education should be free? Why do people not realize education is important and not everyone has the opportunities we have?
