A big winter snowstorm has hit Kentucky many places across the state have had extremely heavy snow fall. The snowfall was up to 10.5 inches in Louisville Kentucky and as low as 4 inches in Hazard Kentucky. Kentucky is set to receive additional snowfall on Friday. Many schools closed down or were delayed due to the snowfall. Temperatures will fall Monday night, hitting single digits by Tuesday morning. Temperatures Wednesday morning could be around 0 degrees. But by next Friday temperatures should be above freezing and possibly hitting 40 degrees. Clouds may linger and temperatures will hover in the low 30s. Starting Sunday, the sun is expected to shine and high temperatures could reach the mid-to-high 30s.
The second part of the snowstorm hit Kentucky with around 3 more inches of snow. Kentucky will remain under a winter storm warning until 7 am on Saturday, with “extreme heavy snow expected,” according to the National Weather Service. So far, 14 inches of snow has been collected in Louisville. Although on Sunday and Monday, the temperatures are set to get higher, the high temperatures are not here to stay. The chances of more snow in the coming days are slim, there is a small chance of flurries with little to no accumulation on Monday morning.
With the snow melting and turning into ice Many schools in Kentucky
are now on a one to two-hour delay, and some other schools are canceling due to it being a little dangerous. Bourbon County School districts said, “Safety remains our top priority, barring any new weather developments, we look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow”.
Central Kentucky is now preparing for another round of extreme cold weather in the next few days, but hopefully temperatures will rise soon and be above freezing temperatures so that schools can remain open.
