On May 11th, two teenagers from Lexington, Kentucky were announced missing. The two teens, Aoun Basboos, a 15- year old; and Ali Haider Naqvi, a 16 year old; were last spotted getting into the back seat of a white 2020 Acura ILX around 5:50 pm on the 3300 block of Spangler Drive. Authorities say the car was spotted on Hume Bedford Acres road in Bourbon county about an hour later. The car is potentially a person of interest in another investigation of shots fired around the same time and place the teens were last seen.
Detectives believe the car traveled through Lexington and other surrounding areas in central Kentucky.
“During that time frame, detectives believe the vehicle traveled out of Fayette County and into surrounding counties in Central Kentucky. Anyone who may have seen the vehicle or Aoun and Ali during that time is asked to contact the Lexington Police Department,” police said in a news release.
A week after the teens disapperaence, on May 22nd a 17 year old was charged with murder in connection with the death of 16-year-old Ali Haider Naqvi. Ali Haider Naqvi’s body was found dead on the side of the road in Harrison county about 20 miles from Lexington. The 17 year old was also convinced of tampering with evidence in the same case. The suspect is being held at a juvenile detention center where they have been since May 14th. Around 6:45 the department officials said Jesus Eduardo Reyes-Rodriguez, was charged with tampering with physical evidence in connection with the search for the missing teens.
The investigation into the disappearance of Anon Basboos is still ongoing. Detectives are actively pursuing leads and continuing their search for the missing 15 year old.
