Why do New Years Resolutions Fail?

Why do New Years Resolutions Fail?

What is a new years resolution? To many people, they are vows to make themselves better in the new year. How long do these vows to do better last? Studies show that new year’s resolutions don’t often last long. Studies show that around 90% of people fail their new year’s resolutions by January.  Why do most people seem to fail their resolutions after a month? Let’s face it, you’re probably trying way too hard to complete your goal. It’s inevitable that you will get burnt out on trying in a week or so, maybe even days. A goal most commonly rushed is losing weight, most people see eating as a chore and exercising as a bore. The best way to really lose weight is making a fitness plan that doesn’t interfere with your daily life, this helps with the goal of removing stress from your life, not adding it. Having a good support group of close friends can help you on your way of completing your goal, it can be hard to say motivated when you feel alone. Believing in yourself is a major key to success with completing your new year’s goals. Doubt is a nagging voice in your head that will resist personal growth with every ounce of its being. The most important part of setting a new years goal is being realistic. It’s great to make resolutions to challenge yourself and push you to grow more as a person, but taking on too much will exhaust you, making you want to give up even more.  It’s important to also realize that fulfilling some resolutions takes a long time and you will not be able to see the results right away, so be prepared for this investment of time and stay motivated until you have reached your goals.
