Greenhouse Sales

It’s officially spring, and people are about to start planting their gardens. A lot of people don’t know this, but the FFA and Agriculture Department of BCHS hosts a greenhouse sale. This year the greenhouse sale will start on Saturday, April 20. However, the teachers from all Bourbon County Schools will be able to come Friday, April 19.
Ms. Wolfenbarger’s first-period class, Greenhouse Tech, as well as some of her other classes,  have worked in the greenhouse since a little after Christmas break. Her students sowed tomato seeds into cell packs, transplanted flowers, grew herbs in milk jugs, and did a lot more work in the greenhouse.

This sale benefits both the BCHS FFA Chapter and the Bourbon County Ag Department. The sale will be held at the Ag building’s large greenhouse. The hours of operation for the sale is every weekday from nine a.m. to about five p.m. On Saturday, May 5th and Saturday, May 11th the hours will be from 9 am to 2 pm.

The things that will be sold in cell packs: (small black package that has three sections for the plants) are Coleus, Impatiens, Marigolds, Regular and Wave Petunias, Snapdragons, Vincas, Waxed Begonias. In four inch pots, there are flowering plants that include: Tuberous Begonias, Geraniums, and Gerbera Daisy. Filler plants that include: Asparagus Ferns, Bocopa, Drancea Grass (Spikes), Spider Plants, and Sweet Potato Vines, and finally vegetable plants which include: tomatoes and banana peppers. In hanging baskets/flowering baskets there are Dragon Wing Begonias and Red Geraniums and lastly, they will be selling ferns and wandering jews.

Ms. Wolfenbarger’s Greenhouse Tech class has filled many pots, taken many cuttings, transplanted many plants, and gotten their hands very dirty working in the greenhouse. Throughout the year FFA members and ag students have sold mums and poinsettias. This is another big fundraiser for them. When thinking about buying things for your garden think about going to the greenhouse sales and helping the FFA and ag department. Prices listed below.
