The holidays are coming up. Christmas, New Year’s eve. Even though it’s just a holiday, it is still different to not celebrate it with people you have always celebrated it with. These days make you remember all of the happy moments you have had with your family. However, celebrating Christmas and all of the other holidays with a new family is good for your experience, new traditions and foods to try.

Back home, in the Netherlands, we have Christmas day (on December 25th) and a second Christmas day (December 26th). We call it Tweede Kerstdag, which means second Christmas day. My family’s tradition on Christmas Eve is we gourmet with the family. Gourmet is just bbq on the dinner table and small treats to put on there.

Christmas day morning we open up the gifts. Now, here in America you go all out with gifts, because nobody believes in Santa Claus anymore we don’t get as much gifts as we used to get. So Christmas is not really that big anymore. The rest of the day is usually spend with family on the beach with the dog. We go out to eat in Amsterdam and watch a Christmas movie at night. Second Christmas day, I usually spend with friends. Buy them presents and just hang out.

So you could say Christmas traditions are different everywhere.
