The Town and Village Charity Benefit

The oldest dancers after performing The Found Project for the first time.

The first weekend of February, Town and Village had their third annual charity benefit performance. This performance gives the studio dancers and routines a chance to show off what they have been working on and prepare themselves for the competition season. The past two years we have donated all the funds to St. Judes children hospital and helped them out a lot. This year we decided to change it up and donate to a new charity. This benefit performance was a lot of fun and we all did our very best.

The way we decide the charity we donate to is by nominating different charities and having all the dancers vote on the one they think the proceeds should go to.  This year the final two charities we decided between were The American Cancer Society and the National Epilepsy Foundation. The final vote concluded that we would be donating to The American Cancer Society. All the dancers and staff were very excited to help the charity out and have fun doing it.

On the day of the benefit, dancers are called ten in the morning to rehearse and block on stage. During this time dancers will remain in the bourbon county auditorium. When it is their time to run their routine they will go on stage with their choreographers and make sure they have the spacing looking good on a new stage. After the dancer has done all of his or her routines they will get a lunch/ dinner break. At five sharp they are called back to the dressing rooms to get ready for the show! As all the dancers put their makeup and costumes on we are all very excited. The show begins with the head director of the studio giving a speech on the importance of the charity we are donating to and the dances that are to come. We always have a great time showing off our dances for a good cause. Maybe next year you will come out and support our new charity.
