How Tik Tok Changed The Music Game
April 3, 2020
As our generation lives on we find joy in so many things, first, it was vine. The 6 seconds of comedy we would have that lead to some of our most iconic lines such as the road work ahead vine “uh yeah I sure hope it does”, “Hurricane Katrina, more like hurricane tortilla” and so many more. These simple phrases and comedy gave us so much laughter and dopamine. Once vine died in 2017 it felt like those days were over. Lots of viners moved to Instagram and youtube, some even started streaming on the popular streaming service called Twitch, which was launched in 2011. On August 2, 2018, the popular lip singing app, Musical.ly changed to tik tok and would change the world with new memes and laughs.
For the last 6 months, and even more popular dances such as the “renegade” dance have gone worldwide viral. These dances also lead to multiple tik tokers to become famous such as Charlie Demilo, Haley Sharpe, Addison Rae, and so many more. But the main point of this app has always been music. Music has powered this app and led to so many trends along with the music. One of the most notable was when old town roads became viral. Lil Naz X was just an average artist until his song started blowing up on tik tok, the song ended up blowing up on the charts ending up at number one for 19 straight weeks, which was record-breaking.
This app-enabled Lil Naz x to blow up and get recognized for his talent, and to create even more, and have a very successful career. This happened again to another big song named Roxanne. This song became extremely popular in a matter of time. In fact, the song came out before it even got on the charts and became popular. Another example of this was the song maniac by Conan gray. Conan gray was just an average artist who was pretty small, till tik tok made his song blow up and change his whole career. The song maniac enabled Conan to reach out to so many new fans and had him grow incredibly fast. The whole society seems to work and form off of what this app shows and an easy trend can turn into a whole new life for someone, no matter who they are.
