COVID-19 vaccine

Maggie Fryman

A lot of people have questions about the new COVID-19 vaccine, including me. The vaccine was one thing that I kind of doubt when I first heard of it. I love to watch the news and read about things going on in the world, COVID-19 being one of them. None of the vaccines or the ones in development in the United States contain the live virus, meaning that the vaccine can not make you sick of COVID-19. My mother and my aunt got the vaccine a couple of weeks ago and they felt very tired and did not really have a lot of energy. Although, it affects everyone differently. There are many different vaccines in progress, all of them teach our immune system to recognize and fight the virus. Sometimes these vaccines have symptoms, and it’s normal. It’s a sign that our bodies are building protection against the virus that causes COVID-19. After getting the COVID-19 vaccine, you will not test positive for the virus on a viral test. If your body develops a response, which is the goal, there is a possibility that you may test positive for some. The CDC stated that if you have had COVID-19 and you recovered then it is still ideal that you get the vaccine because the possibility of being infected again is a chance. As of right now, no one knows how long it takes for a person to get the virus again after already recovering from it. The vaccine will protect you from getting sick with the virus, the vaccine works by teaching your body to fight against the virus. The COVID-19 vaccine will not alter your DNA at all, so no need to worry there. Another question for people is, “Will I still be able to have a baby one day?” The answer to that question is yes! There is no evidence that this will cause fertility problems.
