Due to cover 19 shutting down almost everything at around March 13 of 2020. many students at Bourbon County High School did not get to participate in their spring sports. Losing a full season which was very upsetting for all athletes across the country that participate in spring sports. But thankfully this year I Bourbon County High School is off and running with our spring sports programs. Many students a Bourbon County High School are choosing to ”reclassify” allowing them to graduate with the class below them and give them an extra year of eligibility you too play the sports that might have been lost to them in 2020. I wanted to talk to a few different student-athletes at Bourbon county high school to see how they feel about finally getting to compete in their spring sports. A sophomore at Bourbon County High School stated “ I was really sad that we didn’t get to play last year but this year has been really great and I’m really glad that we got to play“ I spoke to freshman Alana Puscas, who is a member of the track and field team and competes in the long and triple jump as well as the 100 and 200-meter dash, on what her thoughts were about finally getting to compete “I’m so glad that we finally get a chance to run this year not getting to compete last year was really upsetting but we are having a lot of fun this year and I’m very happy that we have the season“ you could most likely ask any student-athlete a Bourbon County High School that competes in a spring sport and they will most likely tell you how thankful they are to have a season. although Bourbon county schools have had to make adjustments to ensure the safest environment for these athletes and spectators which may come at some costs it is what’s best and safest for everyone involved.
