October 7, 2022
DC Comics has been known for its heroes, villains, and anti-heroes including Batman, the Joker, and Red Hood. One such anti-hero is named Black Adam, also known as Theo Adam. Theo Adam was an Egyptian slave gaining super strength super speed invariability and lighting manipulation and more from a wizard named Shazam. Now we see the character on the big screen come October 21, 2022. Black Adam first appeared in December of 1945, appearing in the Fawcett Comics The Marvel Family by Otto Binder. The franchise now earns a movie produced by Warner Bros Pictures and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. Black Adam himself will be played by Dwayne “The Rock ” Johnson, shown in the newly released official trailers garnering over ten million views in counting.
In the trailers, we are shown his feelings about his powers, including how he plans to use them. Black Adam directly states he doesn’t see his powers as a blessing, but as a curse. We get little information on why he sees his powers this way. When they are used, Black Adam harms people who endanger others. His motives are the people who killed his son for their negligent behavior.
Now in the present day, he sees many new things this world has to offer, along with atrocities such as human trafficking, war, and discrimination. He plans to stop these exploits, no matter what the cost. One can see this in the trailer, distorting fighter jets and soldiers, believing no one has the power to halt his efforts. None the wiser to the heroes planning to take him down. Leading us to the heroes of the story, Hawk-Man, Doctor-Fate, Cyclone, and additional Justice Society members.
The Justice Society is a team of heroes who appeared in the All-Star Comics published in December of 1940, in the Golden Age of comic books. However, with the numerous movies containing heroes in them, if there is one heroine that steals the show, it is Doctor-Fate. Many believe this because of the dynamic between Doctor-Fate and Black Adam in the trailer. Doctor-Fate himself can see all of the outcomes of someone’s actions, and in seeing Black-Adam, he sees the potential to be the world’s savior or its destroyer. In the trailer, you can see and hear Fate pleading with Adam to join their side before it’s too late. But Black Adam is not listening; he feels he has no choice but to continue his mission. After watching the thrilling trailer, one is left anticipating a surely action-packed feature.
