November 10, 2022
Taylor Swift’s new Album, Midnight released on October 21, 2022, is also her tenth studio album and has a shocking selling of 14,332,116 copies. Taylor Swift had been teasing the album for months during award ceremonies and large events. She has 13 songs on her album with one featuring Lana Del Rey in the song, “Snow On The Beach.” She officially announced the album at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. Taylor Swift stated that her new albums would be better recreations of her old albums such as Red and 1989. The release sparked immediate attention and when the album dropped on Spotify, it crashed the app, some even experienced an internet outage despite having available internet.
Swift’s collaboration with Lana Del Rey for “Snow On The Beach” upset them too due to her lack of verses. Lana wrote the piece for the two to share, but Swift claimed she “forgot” to include Lana’s verses in the song and only attached her vocals and harmonizations around Taylor’s. Maybe Lana originally gave more for us to hear, but pulled them after realizing she was just singing a Christmas song. Taylor and Lana both expressed their appreciation and excitement to sing and experiment together. “Snow on the Beach” featuring Lana Del Rey is track four on “Midnights” and I cannot get through that sentence without grinning because I am such a massive fan of Lana Del Rey,” said Swift. Though she said that she would reveal more about working with Lana in the future, Taylor could not help but gush about her collaboration, saying that in her opinion Lana is “one of the best musical artists ever. The fact that I get to exist at the same time as her is an honor and a privilege.” Taylor added that she would be “grateful… for life” for the chance to work with Lana on the track.
