Missing Couple in Mexico But Only One Person Found
December 8, 2022
A couple from Arizona went missing while kayaking in Mexico. The couple went missing after they went sea kayaking in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, which is also known as Rocky Point. The couple of Flagstaff were kayaking with their teen daughter around 1p.m, when officals say they first went missing.
Thursday in Puerto Peñasco, winds began to pick up. The husband was said to have helped his daughter back to shore, and then went back to help his wife.
On that Sunday around noon, after the search team used their resources, the local navy had reported that the body of the woman that was missing matched the characteristics that they were looking for. The body was found near the Mayan palace hotel, according to the local navy in Puerto Peñasco. The Puerto Peñasco government said in a statement, “On Saturday, the couple went kayaking on Playa Encanto”, which is a local beach that is 11 miles away from the hotel they were staying at.
The authorities haven’t released their names yet, but they did find a GofundMe link that identifies the couple as Cory Allen and Yeon-Su Kim. Allen’s sister was the one who had identified Yeon-Su Kim’s body. Puerto Peñasco’s Mayor, Jorge Pivac Carrillo, told local authorities to, “ reinforce the search until they find Allen”. The Civil Protection and firefighters said on Sunday “We appreciate the support of the volunteers who have come forward to help, in addition to private businesses and groups of U.S. residents who have provided support to continue the search efforts”.
Kim was a Forestry professor at Northern Arizona and her husband, Allen was a real estate agent. Many friends and family were worried about them both and wanted them both back home safely, but unfortunately when they received the news that Kim was found deceased, they were saddened and created a GofundMe to help with funeral expenses. Allen’s sister said,“ it is crazy on what could happen to anyone within a minute please just love your loved ones as much as you can.”
