Midnight Sun and Five Feet Apart are very similar movies on Netflix because they are both about conditions that are harsh and life threatening. For example, Midnight Sun is a movie about Xeroderma pigmentosum and Five Feet Apart is a movie about cystic fibrosis. Xeroderma Pigmentosum is a skin condition that when you walk out into the sun your skin would burn faster than what is normal and you would get large blisters, which can also cause skin cancer that could potentially kill you. On the other hand, Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that causes problems with breathing and digestion that can also potentially kill you if your lung tissue gets damaged so badly that it no longer works. Therefore, Midnight Sun and Five Feet Apart are similar because they both are life threatening.
Midnight Sun is about a teenage girl named Katie who had a skin condition called Xeroderma Pigmentosum. Katie was always stuck in the house until it was dark outside and then she would go to her nearby train station to play her guitar that was her mothers. Katie’s mother died and Katie inherited her guitar because when she was younger her mom would take her to a doctor over the ocean to watch the sun rise and go down. Katie’s mother would also play the guitar while they were watching the sun rise and go down. When Katie gets older, she watches this cute guy walk by her window to go home. One night when she went to the train station the guy was at the train station where he saw Katie. Katie got nervous and ran away; she eventually saw him again where they fell in love. Katie did not want the guy to know about her skin condition because she was afraid of him looking at her differently, so she would always go out with him when it was dark and come home before the sun came up. Katie eventually wanted to feel the warm sun against her skin, so she and her boyfriend took a boat across the ocean to watch the sun come up. By this time Katie’s boyfriend knew about her condition. Later down the line Katie died, and her family was at loss.
Five Feet Apart is about a boy and a girl named Will and Stella who were in the hospital with Cystic Fibrosis. This disease had left both of them in the hospital fighting for their lives. They were very sick, so much that they would barely do anything. After the two teenagers had been in the hospital for a while they met and fell in love but they had to avoid close physical contact with each other. With Cystic Fibrosis, it could eventually lead to lung failure. Will eventually knew that he had to get away from Stella so that she would have a chance to live a healthy life, so he packed up his things at the hospital and left. After a few months Stella’s new lungs were working well and she was enjoying her healthy life.
