In celebration of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, classrooms at Bourbon County Preschool Head Start crafted cards of appreciation for School Resource Office, Michael Jones. Officer Jones visits the Preschool building regularly and spends time with the children. The importance of the interaction between a police officer and the preschool students can not be underestimated. These young children are able to form a positive bond and relationship of trust, possibly changing any negative perception they may have already preconceived at a young age. They see Officer Jones as their friend, someone they can trust to keep them safe.

Relatedly, the week of February 6th-February 10th was National Counselor Appreciation Week and National School Counseling and Family Resource Youth Service Center (FRYSC) week. The principals from Bourbon County High School showed their appreciation for our counselors and our Youth Service Center Coordinator, Jennie O’Donnell during Counselor and FRSYC Appreciation Week! The kick off to Counselor and FRYSC Appreciation week started with the Bourbon County High School art club decorating the counseling and FRYSC offices. Later in the week, the administrative team showed their appreciation for our counselors and Jennie O’Donnell by purchasing breakfast for them, providing them with two days of dessert and one day of lunch, and finally by creating a large card where students wrote messages and detailed how much we appreciated them. Bourbon Central Elementary School showed their appreciation for counselors and FRYSC staff by recognizing them in an assembly, showering them with cards and flowers, and the staff provided their lunch on February 10th! Bourbon Central Elementary School notes: “We are blessed with the best!” Meanwhile, North Middletown Elementary School celebrated Mrs. Tori, the FRYSC, and Mrs. T (Paula Taylor) with lots of love and hugs from their kiddos, sweet treats and gifts. Finally, FRYSC staff celebrated the week by spending a day in Frankfort. Thank you to our counselors and FRYSC staff for all you do within our halls!
