Let’s admit, most of us only watched the Superbowl to see Rihanna perform. To our surprise she wasn’t there for just a performance or the Superbowl, she used the stage as an advantage to show off her baby bump, well, her second baby bump. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky posted on Instagram about the expectancy of their baby boy and gave birth to him in May of 2022. Rihanna was already open about her first pregnancy, and has not only revealed her second at the Superbowl, but posted on Facebook a few pictures with her firstborn son and a caption, “How crazy both of my babies were in these photos and mommy had no clue.”

Now, it should’ve been expected that every star that has a performance will have complications and complaints too. Riri faced backlash because not everyone was impressed with her halftime performance during the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. Many people online were accusing the pop icon of “lip-syncing” through her show and even calling it the “worst ever” infraction in the history of halftime shows. “Amazing how Rihanna is able to keep singing even when she puts the mic aside and doesn’t move her lips at all,” commented one viewer. Someone else wrote, “Lip-syncing at the Super Bowl should not be allowed.” But the tweet that took the cake was, “Rihanna not even having the mic near her mouth while the lyrics are playing. Why bother doing the halftime show if you’re not even gonna try and lip sync, bizarre.” In her defense, Rihanna hasn’t performed for a live crowd since 2016, on top of that, she’s pregnant with her second child. Who wouldn’t be too tired to sing while with child? At least she cycled through her greatest hits from “Umbrella” to “Work” in as little as 13 minutes. Despite the backlash, some fans complimented her online stating she made a “powerful statement” for women around the world.
